Our community is driven by our passion, as evidenced by awesome people like Mike and Alison Hooker. They operate the grass roots event series OC MTB Races. Today they made it possible for many to enjoy the results of their significant contribution.
Ninety or so riders across multiple classes gathered at the recently opened Gypsum Canyon Wilderness, in many cases for the first time. Mike had mapped a well thought out course that resulted in five varied laps with strong climbs and fun descents, all in all a pretty tough 17 miles.
The cool thing though isn't just the race though, it's the story behind it. Today was another all volunteer day in the open space. MTB led/MTB enjoyed, with a constant theme of responsible recreation. With leadership from the OC MTB team, the land managers saw once again the opportunity to expand their resources from within our amazing community.
OC mountain bikers love to ride, and OC likes MTB Races - thank you to Mike and Alison for bringing our clan together to enjoy doing so in one of these new spaces. Putting their heart into it for all of us, that's what makes this our community amazing!
